I have been so distracted lately. I am not exactly sure the reason but I feel the effects. Lately, I have had a hard time focusing on the things I need to do and instead, I get overwhelmed with thoughts and do nothing. This causes me to become mentally exhausted because I have so many things taking resident in my mind without ever being proactive and birthing any life into my ideas. Ultimately, this causes me to lose confidence in myself and I fall into a deeper hole of nothingness as a result of being overwhelmed. While showering today, what I believe to be, the Holy Spirit, prompted me to study the word of God. Then, I began receiving revelations.
A lot of times when we are distracted, we go to the things of this world for validation; like people, social media, drugs, food, alcohol, ect. These things only amplify the distractions in our lives and causes us to receive false validation based on what’s popular and accepted, based on the standards of the world. This is dangerous territory because a lot of people lose themselves in this cycle! Instead of focusing on the gifts that God has given us, we begin to adopt what we see other people doing, take on their mentality and never carry out the assignment God placed us on this earth to complete.
It takes hard truth, courage, and focus to live on purpose! Life is hard and it will sometimes take us down paths that we never imagined with exciting ups and unexpected downs. Recovering for the painful downs can often be extremely challenging. It takes work; emotional, mental and sometimes physical work. However, we must be willing to do the work. Whatever that may be; whether it’s choosing to release those people and things that are not conducive to our future, changing the music we listen to, reading a self-help book, forgiving those that may have hurt us, going to therapy or making amends with a person that we had differences with. Whatever the case may be, do the work and be resilient.
The truth is, not everyone will be okay with our commitment to living our truth; it may cause people to envy us, we may lose people along the way and sadly, it may cause some people to be offended. Nevertheless, I found that living my truth is the only road to true, authentic happiness. Essentially, this truth can only be found in our creator, the one who formed us in our mothers womb and created us for a divine purpose here on earth. Everything outside of this very thing is simply a distraction.
So my challenge to you is to seek your validation in Christ. Find some quiet time to study your bible, watch a video or begin reading a self-help book. Allow it to minister to you. Learn about yourself in Christ, find your identity and begin doing the work. Work to create a better you so that you can help someone else through your gifts.
Do the work!
